We are committed to sustaining a vibrant, diverse, inclusive, and supported undergraduate community at SSL!
Paid undergraduate student opportunities at SSL are offered via direct hires at hourly rates. See current job listings below from our Handshake feed. SSL is also a proud participant in UC Berkeley’s Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP). Check out our list of URAP offerings prior to the start of each semester and apply! If you are a community college student, please consider applying to ASSURE, our summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. For all other inquiries, please contact SSL Student Engagement Manager Daniel Zevin at dzevin@ssl.berkeley.edu.
Networking with SSL’s researchers and engineers sometimes leads to student positions at the lab. Perhaps the best possible regular chance to rub shoulders with some of our team is at the weekly 290B Space Sciences Seminar Series held every Tuesday from 1:00-2:10pm during the fall and spring semesters in 325 Physics South Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. To get the complete schedule and/or to join the group listserv for regular reminders, please contact SSL’s Chadi Salem at salem@ssl.berkeley.edu. Another such networking opportunity is the weekly Center for Integrative Planetary Science (CIPS) seminar held every Wednesday starting at 1:10pm in 131 Campbell Hall, with pizza served beforehand at 12:45pm. To get on the mailing list for upcoming presentation and other event announcements, please contact SSL’s Paul Szabo at szabo@berkeley.edu.
We invite all undergraduates and recent graduates to join our new Undergrad Opportunities in Space Science and Aerospace Google Group (aka Space Opps)! Once you become a group member, you can rest assured that you’ll get an email announcement when we’ve learned about a new student opportunity in the ever-growing space science and aerospace fields. This includes opportunities based in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond!
Not finding anything here that interests you? If so, please fill out our undergraduate intake form and we’ll do our best to get back to you if a new SSL opportunity that fits your interests and skill set presents itself. NOTE: Please be ready to upload a PDF of your resume prior to completing the form.
