Yen-Jung, a.k.a. Joanne, received her Ph.D degree in Physics from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan. Her research interest focuses on the atmosphere-ionosphere coupling in different altitudes, by observing optical phenomena in the atmosphere such as lightning, transient luminous events, airglow and aurora from space and ground. Her career in space sciences started as a graduate student working on the data analysis and modeling of observations from a UCB-built instrument, Imager of Sprite and Upper Atmospheric Lightning (ISUAL), onboard the Taiwanese satellite FORMOSAT-2. She has joined the science team of NASA’s Ionospheric Connection Explorer at SSL since 2017. She hopes to be a curious cat forever.
