Dr. Hurford originally came to solar physics via his work in microwave radio interferometry. He stayed in the world of indirect imaging, applying his skills to solar X-ray/gamma-ray imaging techniques: he was the Imager Scientist for RHESSI, and is the Imager Scientist for the Solar Telescope for Imaging X-rays (STIX), on board ESA’s Solar Orbiter.
