First Discoveries from Parker Solar Probe Released

Scientists have just announced the first discoveries from Parker Solar Probe’s daring mission to the Sun! What they’ve learned has changed our understanding of the way the Sun releases material and particles, influencing Earth and the entire solar system: https://go.nasa.gov/34Qj1LC

These new findings include:

? surprises about the behavior of the Sun’s constant outflow of material, the solar wind

? never-before-seen particle bursts that are too small to measure from Earth

? some of the first evidence supporting a nearly century-old theory about how cosmic dust is distributed near our star.

These are just a few of the first science highlights, and the mission team is looking forward to learning more about our star over the course of the mission’s 21 remaining solar flybys.
