• Improve RHESSE image quality by choosing an appropriate set of detectors
  • Add background images from other missions (STEREO, TRACE, Nobeyama Radiograph, etc.)

RHESSI Images

Both CLEAN and EM images are reconstructed with the following parameters in the SSW/RHESSI programs:

  • Detectors: 3-8
  • Pixel size: 1 arcsec
  • Image dimension (CLEAN): 128 x 128 or larger
  • Image dimension (EM): 64 x 64
  • Time interval: 32 sec
Default values are used for all other parameters.

Color contours are shown only if the maximum count in the constructed image exceeded 4.5 times the sigma-level. The contour levels are 40, 60, 80 and 90% of the maximum value.

Remarks

Flares are commented under the following guideline.

"Limb" or "On-disk"

If at least one HXR source were above the solar limb, then "Limb", else "On-disk". However, a "limb" event could still be classified as "on-disk" if background images showed both legs of the loop within the solar limb.

"0FP", "1FP" or "2FP"

Number of footpoints identified in either type of the movies (Clean or EM). Even if 2FP appeared only in one frame of the movie, the event is still given the label "2FP".

Searching suggestion

Type in "Limb, 0FP" and you would get good candidates for occulted flares. Type in "Limb, 1FP", "Limb, 2FP", or "Limb, ?FP" and you would get candidates for partially occulted flares.
