Biography

Mitsuo Oka has a broad interest in the kinetic properties of space plasma, including solar wind with interstellar-origin pickup ions, shocks, and magnetic reconnection. His recent primary focus has been on electron acceleration in solar flares and terrestrial plasma environment (including the bow shock and magnetotail). He has used both satellite observations (Geotail, THEMIS, MMS and RHESSI) and computer simulations (mainly particle-in-cell technique) to conduct research on key problems in Shock and Magnetic Reconnection physics.
