Marit Oieroset

I am an experimental space plasma physicist specializing in interactions between the solar wind and Earth’s magnetosphere, processes that ultimately provide energy supply for the aurora and space weather hazards. More specifically, I study large-scale and microphysical properties of magnetic reconnection, a universal energy conversion process important in space, astrophysical, and laboratory plasmas, using in-situ spacecraft observations of particles and electromagnetic fields from NASA’s THEMIS/ARTEMIS, MMS, and TRACERS missions. I received my PhD from the University of Oslo, Norway, and did my post-doctoral training at the International Space Science Institute (ISSI) in Berne, Switzerland before coming to Berkeley.
