Scarlett Hao is an aerospace engineer working on the Ultraviolet Explorer (UVEX), specializing in thermal control. She joined SSL in 2025 after she graduated from UC Berkeley with her M.Eng. in aerospace engineering.
Scarlett is from Beijing and lived in Hawaii where she grew interest in astronomy. She is passionate about space exploration for scientific discovery and is trilled to be building instruments at SSL that goes into space and help expand human knowledge of the universe. She also cares deeply about building communities and engaging with students.
