SSL and the Shuttle

U.C. Berkeley's Space Sciences Lab and the Space Transportation System share a long and rich history. With the retirement of the Shuttle fleet, it seems like a fitting time to summarize SSL's involvement in the program.

STS-51 September 1993 Discovery ORFEUS-SPAS SPAS carried the IMAX camera used to film Destiny in Space
STS-57 June 1993 Endeavour SAREX SSL sponsored an amateur radio contact between astronaut Brian Duffy on board space shuttle Endeavour and students at the Lawrence Hall of Science
STS-80 November 1996 Columbia ORFEUS-SPAS II
STS-125 May 2009 Discovery COS COS is an instrument installed aboard the Hubble Space Telescope
