THE BERKELEY EXTREME AND FAR-ULTRAVIOLET
SPECTROMETER (BEFS)
Welcome to the home page of the Berkeley Extreme and Far-Ultraviolet
Spectrometer (BEFS), a project of the Space Astrophysics Group of the
University of California, Berkeley. Designed for high-resolution
spectroscopy in the far and extreme ultraviolet, BEFS flew in space
twice, in 1993 and 1996. BEFS is part of ORFEUS, the Orbiting and
Retrievable Far and Extreme Ultraviolet Spectrometers, a joint project
of NASA and the German space agency.
BEFS spectra from both the 1993 and
1996 missions are now available from the Multimission Archive at STScI
(MAST).
